The internship program run by Rompetrol, at the end

During the two months, the youngsters went through theoretical and practical training stages, especially in the online environment, a measure taken by the company in accordance with the recommendations from the authorities, in the current pandemic context.

"It was an atypical edition of the internship program, but just as intense and effective for the youngsters who want to pursue a career in the field. Even though, physically, they did not spend much time together, we felt the interns very close, motivated and proactive. They benefited from the contribution of people who excel in their fields and who accepted the challenge of reinventing themselves and adapting to the current context, finding every day creative ways to transfer knowledge to interns, even in online", said Nicoleta Mihăiţă, Talent Acquisition & Employer Branding Manager at KMG International (Rompetrol).

More than 35 mentors guided the students and helped them, through their experience, to capture as much information as possible, from different areas of specialization. At the same time, the interns participated in personal development workshops, technical projects for the final evaluation, they designed a Rompetrol Intern's Diary and took part in the Community Challenge, a social responsibility project.

Respecting all sanitary norms, social distancing and protection measures, the interns also had a three-day experience on-site, in the Petromidia Năvodari, Vega Ploieşti refineries and within Rompetrol Well Services. Thus, the interns saw, on the spot, how complex installations from the largest refinery in Romania (Petromidia) or from the only refinery in the country producing bitumen and hexane (Vega) work.

Every year, one of the objectives of the internship program is to develop youngsters both professionally and personally. As a premiere this year, the 55 students went through the Leaders Explore personal development program, organized by the Leaders Foundation, during which they identified and developed skills such as communication, empathy, adaptability, active listening and teamwork.

At the end of the two months of the program, the youngsters received two certifications: one as a graduate of the Rompetrol internship program and one as a graduate of the personal development program.

Over 1,500 students and graduates have been trained in the internship programs developed by Rompetrol, from 2001 to the present. A big part of the interns have successfully entered the labor market, many of them even in KMGI companies, holding, today, key positions in various segments of activity.

Rompetrol Rafinare operates the Petromidia Năvodari refinery, the largest and most modern profile unit in Romania and one of the most important in the Black Sea region. Petromidia is considered one of the best performing units in Europe, Africa and the Middle East, according to a study conducted by a renowned company specialized in comparative analysis in the energy sector, with a complexity index of 11.4, which places it in the top refineries in the region. The company also owns the Vega Ploieşti refinery, the only domestic producer of bitumen and hexane.

Rompetrol Well Services (RWS) is one of the most important companies in the specific market segment in Romania. With over 60 years of experience, RWS offers a wide range of specialized services for oil and gas wells including Cementation, Sand Control, Stimulation, Wire Instrumentation, Nitrogen Services, Column Tubing and Equipment and Tool Rentals.
